How to Activate Two-Step Verification on Google

Last week Google provided useful tools for its users, namely two-factor authentication or two-step verification. If you haven't tried it, you should do it immediately. By enabling two-step verification, your account will be safer. This is the best tool for anyone who uses a Google account.

Two-step verification adds a new layer of security to your account. Once activated, you (or potential hackers) must run two steps to enter your Gmail account.
In addition to regular passwords, you will need a six-digit code that is sent to your cellphone every time you try to log in.

This means that hackers cannot break into your account even if they already know your password. They also need to have your cellphone physically.

If that sounds complicated, don't worry. You really don't have to wait for the text code every time you enter.

In this post, we will discuss how to set up two-step verification for your Google account in just a few minutes - and how to do it without adding new steps to your daily routine.

Enable two-step verification
To start, open the Security page in the settings. Click 2-Step Verification and then press Start to enter your Google account and turne on two-step verification.

By default, a verification code is sent to your mobile, but you can choose to receive confirmation via the Google application. This not only saves you from having to enter code, but also safer.

Backup option
Google recommends setting at least one backup option if you cannot access your cellphone. You can print some backup codes that you will then store in a safe place.
You can also use the Google Authenticator application as a backup option or a USB security key.
